The importance of fighting ageism for future generations: a message from MEP Brando Benifei

Mr. Brando Benifei, one of the youngest Member of the European Parliament, has joined the #AgeingEqual campaign to call for a new cultural mindset of inclusive of all age groups.

Because societies are experiencing ageing and a new demographic mix in their population, Mr. Benifei hopes for the elaboration of innovative strategies for social sustainability, ensuring that future generations can enjoy at least the same access to social resources as their counterparts in the generation:

“Creating awareness on the importance of new intergenerational policies and recognising not only the diversity of needs, but also the complementarity of contributions that different generations can bring to societies is fundamental. Without such awareness, a twisted, perverse competition for limited resources across young and old generations will develop to the detriment of all age groups.”
